I have a question for you all about my 1996 12valve block. I sent the engine down to Haisley's to have ot built up. The engine has a build date of 12/07/1995 if that makes a difference and Im not sure about when the block was cast!
Anyway, Van called me up today that while tearing down my engine he noticed that my engine is an International Harvester casting. Anyone ever heard of it? He said that they are very rare in a 12valve block but do show up. He said they were cast in Indianapolis, IN instead of Brazil. He told me that these blocks have the highest nickle content in all of the Cummins blocks making them ideal for a preformance engine but come with one draw back. Above the lifter bores there is a chance of imperfections from the sand casting that could cause water leaks but its rare. He said he is going to have my block presure tested just to double check that its okay!
He also told me that my crank and rods are made in brazil which are the better forgings than the USA made ones!
Does anyone know anything about these blocks? he had a name for them but forgot to write it down.
Thanks... Ryan
