I recently installed a # 5 plate and 3000 K governor springs 0n a 95 Cummins and I am only seeing 22 pounds of boost. Is this normal or can I use a boost elbow like those that are supplied with the Edge Comps to increase the pressure.
Find the rubber hose that connects to the steel line running crossways between the center valve covers and pull it off and plug the rubber line, no more waste gate activation, it stays closed.
With the wastegate plugged you should be able to hit 40 psi easy.
I adjusted the shaft on the wastegate. Then reinstalled it with washers for more distance. I took a steel pin and drilled it out. I barrow a toolmakers smallest drill bit to drill out a hole in the pin. This hole is about the size of a hair. Very small.
I shoved the steel pin in to the rubber line the operates the wastegate. All this does is slow down the reaction time of the wastegate. But not allow over boost at high rpm's.
I hit 30 psi faster than you can blink. It will stay on 30 till you run out of steam.
Before I did the pin trick. I would hit about 26 psi and struggle to hit 30 psi.
