Caltracs

Nice powder coat paint job.

Here they are helping to control the ride on my layout table. All six legs are maintaining perfect traction;)

I dunno how they work in the rams... . maybe I'll have to find out someday;) (after the bigger injectors and twins of course when I can't hook up in 4wd  like that'll happen), but my dart has a cal tracs mono-leaf rear suspension and it works great in that.

Corey

Cory, Wayne is having real good luck with them on his truck, I had to change a few things up on mine but they should be on soon then I'll report back.

Jim

I'm currently running the Falken Ziex S/TZ 01 in a 285-60-18 , the rubber is actually a fairly hard (420 treadwear) compound . I just haze them before I pull to the line and that gets them slightly sticky.

Im working on getting some pics posted of the truck. Ultimately a drag slick is the best , once I get the truck dialed in on the street tires I may just throw some slicks on it

Hey Jim did you install them yet?? I would like to see some pics of them installed on a ram. .

JR2

JR2 or John, there weird on the truck as you never know there there till you hit a big Oklahoma chug hole the you can feel them HIT, I just got finished today installing the locker and with it and the bars it's like a different world, never knew I spun that much. doing a launch on the street in OK as long as you don't try to leave at high boost (over 10 PSI) I can leave at say 6-8 psi and do fine but boost hit's and it breaks loose just a little then fades away quick while setting you back in the seat, Once I get back to the track I can put some number together.

Jim

I am most interested in them for daily driving and stopping wheel hop in the sand... . and of course maybe draging this summer... When you are just driving down the road and hit a bumb is the hit real bad or or is it just a new feeling. I really don't want to make my truck ride worse than it already does, but a little less axle wrap would be nice.

John aka JR2

John there not bad on the road, it's just when you hit a big pot hole or something like that. It is just a little stiffer in the rearend now but no it doesn't ride like an iron wheel wagon or anything!

Jim

HVAC,

Would the caltracs work on a dakota?

if so, how much are they? i am looking for a set for my dakota,

it runs 14. 68@96mph, but the wheelspin/hop is outragous!!

Chances Are Not

That Dakota likely has a much smaller rear axle. My Caltracs were supposed to fit my D80 rear axle. The plates that go under the axle that the U-bolts go through are for the D80 (4"Dia). I doubt they would bolt properly to a smaller axle.

I feel the same way.

Jim, please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears the bars could be removed easily while leaving the brackets in place. This way one could install the bars for weekend racing and take them off for the ride home.

Thanks,

Ryan

Yes you could but there not a ride issue just noticable in large bumps, if you had the tools in hand you could pull both in 10 mins.

Jim

Thanks Jim.

I am convinced Michigan has the worst roads of any state I have driven in and it seems like there is nothing but large bumps on the roadway. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are any smooth roads left in MI :)

I just wanted to be sure the potential is there in case I decided they created some issues during daily driving.

Thanks again,

Ryan

Big DQ, they work very well on Dakota's several are already running them with great results. Jim glad to see you got your set installed, as for the bumps you can just turn the bars out some more so the stop bolt wont contact the leaf spring.
