What is up with 134-A? Price has more than doubled lately, is it already obsolete and do they already have a replacement??? bg

My last jug, bought last October, was $65. 00 (30 lbs). The business next to me said it is like 350. 00 a jug now. I hope he is on the pipe. , lol

How much was yours???

the plants that make it are shutting or have already sut down production. and he's not on the pipe. its well over $350 a pig right now.

Ok, I just called my supplier and they just quoted me :--) $460. 00 dollars. :--) Guess the drivers will have to do without air this year if their systems go down.

I bought a case of 12 oz. cans not long ago for around thirty dollars. The same dozen cans now is a little over a hundred bucks. bg

The supply of r12 and the vehicles that use r12 have been dropping. Pushing the demand for 134a up. Glad my a/c in my 95 is still strong.

The story that I heard is that r-134 still had 1% clorine in its formulation and now they are eliminating the r-134 because of it. It went the same way with the r-12. Switching 6 tractors and 8 vehicles got rather expensive. We switched 75% of them to r-134 and the rest to "Enviro-Safe". We have not a bit of trouble with the Enviro-safe. No changeover was needed, just added it to the old system. No problem cooling and it has been in the vehicles and tractors for 6 years without leaking down. Now we are wishing we had switched them all to ES. Has anyone else tried the Enviro-Safe and had problems? It also can go in r-134 systems.
