Competition First time at the strip!

Competition stir this!

gary , good job .

i'm looking to come up with something for next season , its getting to late to run here , though i may run next weekend , hopefully the hx40 will get me a 13 sec slip ...

as far as that guy who hooked you up , if he really new mopars he would know that mopars don't use slapper bars , they had a rear spring design that didn't need them , they used an adjustable pinion snubber , i'm trying to figure out how to put one in the truck , that would be the best i think .

slapper bars are a chevy thing and weren't designed properly were they hit on the spring instead of the eye ... you wont the axle to stop twisting and pull the nose up transfering weight to the rear to plant the tires ...

gary running slicks ?

MM, no slicks, :D. Stock tires. 20lbs of pressure.

KD, weight,????? 6300 is a long quad, 2 wd

Mine is short, quad 2 wd with stockland camper shell with windows(400lbs?????), maybe 6600lb's and I weight 285,:(

What I need to do is go to a real race track. Maybe after Pomona.

Not really sure how the traction is at Sackoftomatos. :D

MM I have the Caltracs on a multileaf setup and they work great. The biggest difference over them and the pinion snubber was that the caltracs try and lift the front end up instead of just jacking the back in the air.

Gary Good work!!

I babied Hiperf360s truck to a 14. 88@91 on friday night. Thats with an EZ, Blue Chip FMS(not in drag race mode to hard on clutch) and DD2s on a ETC 5 speed with a stock clutch in a 01. 5 3500SLT+. I had to granny shift 3rd to get it to hook the clutch and then had to let almost all the way out in 4th to get the clutch to hook up. His SouthBend clutch will be here tuesday. Since he was able to get 93mph out of it(but slower time) I think with some good traction and some stomp shifting it should be in the low 14s.

After I get a real motor built for my car I am gonna toss some showerheads in my truck

Click on this link, punch in the numbers to calculate ET.

Thanks 340, I really have mixed emotions, really wanted to back up that time. Oh, well.

Friday, they have a 1/8 mile deal at Stadium. Will be going to practice some 60' times. :D

Also, I am going to soften up the rear springs this week and use the airbags that I have had on for a while.

If you soften up the springs it might make things worse. Making the front part of the spring softer will make axle wrap even worse. Now if you could remove some leaves and have some half leaves put on to keep the front stiff you might be in business. But from what I have learned if you don't have a traction aid like caltracs or ladder bars ETC you need to keep the front half of the spring stiff to control axle wrap.

Gary, what if you just leave with no boost?? Just stomp it from an idle? It might not be any fun for people standing near the starting line but the turbo lag from the 40 might apply the power smoothly enough to keep the tirespin down. 2. 02 isn't bad at all for radials, Hell I only got a 2. 23 out of a truck with 4 rear tires friday night lol

Clark

clark , thats interesting about the caltracs , everyone i have heard that is running them over on moparts is having to switch to a monoleaf .

i'll guess i'll wait for hvacs report on them , but just for grins i'll give them a ring and see what i need to do . i know if i pull out a bolt i can render then inoperative for when i don't need them .

gary 20 psi in the stock tires , i'll assume its helping , as that is real low , how do they react at 40 psi ?

as far as coming out at idle , thats going to kill your 60 ft , possibly slow you down depending on how it breathes on the big end . try a little less boost .

MM,

When I first went to S. I. R. for my first time I had 40 lbs in the rears. My best 60' was 2. 20 and only could leave at 3LB's of boost. Best time was 14. 17 but I have added more power since then, at Palmdale a week or so ago my best 60' was 1. 91 at 25 lbs of boost and leaving the line at 4ish lbs of boost and did a 14. 04. This last saturday was 20 in the rears and trying to leave at 6ish did a 2. 02 60' with a 13. 80@99. 82.

The hardest deal with this rig is trying to repeat launches, I will figure out one of these days.

Going to get new rears today, they are pooped. And I MIGHT soften up the rear.

340,

I never tried the no boost leave, I know the 60'ers would be timed by a calendar. :D

gary , you'd be well into the 13's wit hslicks , but i know i want a 13 sec slip on street tires , bill told me i was nuts , i have seen 3 trucks now do it , of course 2 , plus myself are cheaters , we have 4wd and can launch with 10 -15 psi boost and 65psi in the rears :D

MM I think the Mono Leaf is recomended don't get me wrong. But I am not throwing alot of HP to the ground really. My dad has a 69 Barracuda 340 that runs 10. 60s on the Hemi Super Stock springs. He spoke with Caltracs and they said he would need to go to a monoleaf type setup for his car.

Gary, what tire did you go to on the rear?

Clark

For the time being I am getting the Yoko AVS 20% softer and an inch wider.

Nowel, BTW, the date is still going,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :D
