who is HP king?

Speculation: What would happen to the TDR if...

Visited with a fellow rv'er this weekend with an older model,(91) motor home with this engine. Supposed to be around 350 hp with 1400 lbs. torque. Single turbo w/o intercooler. Monitors intake air temp, not exhaust. Must be an older version of their cross country truck engines. Also avg's 13 mpg's at 28k gross. Interesting fellow to visit with. Anyone with comments on this engine?

its a good engine, cummins actually used in many cases, the same block for many different hp settings,up to around 400+ depending on the year model. its what is commonly called, the 855 cause its 855 ci in displacement. the 13mpg seems a little high though!

My buddy has a couple of N14's in his Volvo/Autocar dumptrucks. I have driven for him on occasion and the 435hp in his tri-axle is a decent puller and he's had zero problems with it.

Thought the mpg's were a little high myself. This is a front engine rig. Must have several sections of drive shaft and joints. I can imagine what the twist must be at the rear most joint.

Other than headgasket trouble, the 855 is a very good engine. Much more power than a detroit, and a lot tougher than a Cat.

koth , i dont know if i can agree with that statement,of course it all depends on which cat and detroit engines you are refering to,and what years.
