Sorry, in advance if this was already addressed_

In the June 2005 Off-Road Adventures magazine there is an article on the NEW 14-bolt GM ARB air locker. Since the Eaton E-locker for the GM 9. 25 worked for our front applications will this new ARB work also??? This would be great since my truck has a stupid open-diff.

the new 14 bolt locker is for a 10. 5 inch ring gear 14 bolt. i THINK the rear in the 3rg gens is 11. 5... . but i cant remember. so NOPE. no workie.

Yep, it's for the regular 10. 5" 14 bolt that has been in use since 1973. The axle under our trucks' design is only about 4 years old AFAIK.

Aren't the d-max trucks running the same 11. 5 rear? If so, I would go for the GM G80 locker fitted to those trucks. It works awesome. It is a locker not a LSD, and it kicks off at a certain speed to maintain stability on the road. Much less hassle than an ARB and most likely cheaper too.

if they come out with one to fit the gm 11. 5's rears, it should fit ours then... ?

They won't, so don't worry about it. It took 30 years to get them to cover the old 14 bolt, maybe 30 years from now you can get one for the 11. 5.

It's similiar, I'm not sure how many parts they share but they're definitely similar. The cover is not the same.

G80/Gov-Lock has been garbage since the first day it was introduced regardless of application. I wouldn't suggest that ANYONE use one.

I was told that the internals in the diff between the GM and Dodge are different enough to keep the lockers from not fitting.

I am sure you know this from your years and years of experience  I have had the G80 in several trucks. I have put hundreds of thousands of hard miles on them. I have always found them to perform MUCH better than the cheesy "limited slip" diffs offered by Ford and Dodge, I have much first hand experience with those as well.

To bad it won't work. Seems crazy AAM would make two similar axles to different specs but, I guess if you buy enough of them, they will make them how want 'em.

I've been giving ARB a hard time over not having a air-locker for the 3rd gen trucks yet.

The short answer is what they have doesn't fit. They do have a couple axles off 3rd gens down at their plant for testing and have been there for a while. I've been promised an email when the locker comes in. I'll keep bothering them anyways lest they sell the first one to someone else.

I also promise to report when I hear something.
