Was checking out my cousin's new(and when I say new, it is
) '98 12v this Thanksgiving weekend and noticed some interesting things about it I never heard before. First off, I'd like to mention that this truck is probably the youngest 12v on the planet. He found this truck in the Ag source magazine, which is a Ag truck/tractor tader mag publiched in central Cali, and surprisingly the thing only had 4400 miles
on it when he picked it up about a month ago! Apparently it was garaged all it's life an owned by an older gentleman that never really drove it. I couldn't believe it until I saw the odometer as well as how clean and nice everything on it was. Absolutely no rust, hardly any scratches in the bed and so on. Unbelieveable that he was able to find such a truck.
Anyway, to my interest in this truck. I was checking out the engine and such and noticed that the engine data plate says it is timed to 14*!!
This truck is a California EGR 180 pump'd truck and I was so surpirsed to see the timing set that high by the factory. Talk about great mileage stock with that much timing. I personally thought that my 215 engine was the highest timed engine out of the factory but I guess the Cali 180 engines were set that high.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to tell you about my cousin's awesome find as well as the interesting specs of the engine.
