Its not possible to lock the torque converter during slow speed backing with a heavy trailer. The problem is the lousy passenger car gear ratios of the 48RE as Bill Stockard explained early in this thread.
I spent $6400 having a "bullet proof" DTT transmission built by a DTT rebuilder and my '06 Ram had 4. 10 gears. It still overheated the ATF when backing and maneuvering my trailer on soft ground.
