Motor mansion at Raleigh RV show today had sticker on window that said that particular vehicle would have $15,000. 00 increase with 01/01/07 models due to diesel EPA requirements.

I'd like to be in the position that I could afford $400,000 for a winnebago. Holy **** that is friggin crazy!

Well, for 400k it ain't gonna be a Winnebago... .

Secondly, that sure sounds like a scare tactic that they are using to get those that are on the fence about buying now to get off the fence and buy. While it might be possible that the new engines will cause a slight price increase on new Diesel Pushers, I doubt it's gonna be 15 grand.

The February 2007 issue of Trailer Life has a pretty good article on the 2007 EPA regs for diesel engines. According to the article, new diesel trucks may increase up to $5000 over similar 2006 models (I don't think we have seen that). In diesel motorhomes "the price hike is expected to be $4500-$6000 for medium-duty engines, and $7000 - $10,000 for a heavy duty engine. "

I mentioned earlier that we will see 12-15K increase on Class 8, over the road semi's with new engine technology and higher operating costs..... most of the builders don't have much for orders in the second and third quarter of this year because those customers have overloaded on new trucks... . its said there will be some dealers out of business this fall... . and some plant closures... . Freightliner with a new plant coming on line in Mexico has said it will close 2 US plants and would lay off 3500 people... . don't know about the rest... .

But most buyers aren't real happy with the new costs and upkeep thats coming.....

Only time will tell...

I believe scare tactic is right! Have the dealers figured, though, that if the emissions models were to increase that amount the sales of those units are undoubtedly going to drop considerably. Thus a sale price will be used to move those units before the following model year is introduced into production. I feel that the price will be in check with normal inflation increases.

Mom and I have been looking for a year or longer for bigger and better things from DC and it tooks now that they are delivering. We still think the 4500/5500 will be a good answer for the everyday hauler that has been over extending the awesome 3500 dually. Our decision to purchase our 06' dually when we did was a good decision. The 5500 will give a harsh ride for a daily driver to the local 7-11 store. We are going to make a 5500 out of our 3500. Maybe someday after the 6 speed auto is proven and the prices has settled a little - maybe maybe maybe.

Even if I was Anna Nicole Smith's baby's father and I was about to come into some real $$$, I wouldn't spend 400K on any Motorhome or 5th wheel.

I figured it was one of those winnebagos... house on wheels as you might call them, but someone said it wasn't.
