I just got some advise from a wise old man[My DAD]. He owend his owen radiator shop for 35 years. Retired just as they started to use plastic. Good thing he said you can't fix the junk!!!!He also said get rid of that 15# cap. for every day driving go to 5#or7#cap. The folded over seams on the plastic tanks can,t take the expansion an contraction.

Now you can do what you want. But I learned a long time ago this man doesn't talk just to hear himself.

This is interesting.

I have never heard anything like this before. Does anybody else have any info on this?

Thanks.

Cooling system pressure

I would be cautious about using a radiator cap with a lower pressure rating than is stock, especially for towing! The reason being that the higher the system pressure, the higher the coolant temp can be without boiling. This prevents the coolant from boiling in the hotter areas of the engine, namely in the heads around the exhaust valves, coolant boiling in this area will create isolated hot spots as well as cavitation erosion that will lead to a cracked head.
