Has anybody ever found a 15" wheel that will fit on the rear of 2nd gen disk brake trucks?

I have the line on M&H Cheaters and Nostalgias for a 16" wheel, are there any other options available?

Any thoughts on having a stock 2nd gen aluminum wheel widened to 10"?

Thank you Thom, saved me some fruitless searching.

I have heard about having my spare stock aluminum wheels cut and a extension welded back in to make take them from 8" to 10" wide. There is no cost save to doing this, but it would look cool if I have to spend the cash for new 10" wheels anyway. I figured that I could find a business in the Detroit area that does this kind of work however I have come up dry so far.

EDIT: Just found a shop nearby

RNR,

Get with a wheel company like www.petepaulsen.com and tell them you want a 15" wheel with a 16" center. That should get you arround the disks, if you have a place localy you can put the wheel on the truck and adjust the backspacing on the truck before the weld up.

I did this on mine and it got me another 2" of backspacing over the "off the shelf" bart wheels.

Scott... ... ... are you saying they will cut out the centers on a 15" racing wheel and weld in a 8 lug center? That's wild.

Yep. That's what we do with the wheels for our pulling trucks. Cut the centers out of a 16" and swap them into the 15" outer. We chuck both pieces up in a lathe to eliminate the runout during welding. You can make your offset whatever you want! They do drive nice on the road too!

Note: to clear the 15" on the rear 80 we turned the drums down on the lathe. Wouldn't recommend this for street use. :D

Preston those wheels have a bolt in center. We just have a new center made and them bolt them in. Fit over disc brakes perfect. I used them because of the variety of tires the 15" has. So we can run on a street night and then put the slicks on for outlaw races

weldwheels.com

summitracing.com

jegs.com

etc...

They all have them.

Also I have a brand new, never run set of Weld Alumnastar 15x12(wide) with 7" backspacing that I'd take a slight loss on if somebody has any interest.

The 7" backspace is their deepest offering.

I ended up narrowing my rear end even more than I planned when I purchased my wheels.

This is excellent information, a bit overwhelming but definately awesome. I need to make some calls to get a better understanding of what is involved. Thank you!
