Funny I was talking to my Son today on the phone when it hit me that he also has a 15. He replaced his with a Cummins and will be going thru the process to get reimbursed.

Original owner 2016 3500 have not received this notification
Mine was replaced at 36,000 under warranty
Just wondering if 2016 gets the extension
I would like to know this too so I called the number on his letter and so far, no love there. The representative on the phone said not at this time. It's the story of my life with these stupid trucks. With my 95, I had the throttle cable issue but they said it was not covered under the recall until decades later, I found an open recall after I had already replaced it, so what the heck, I had the dealer replace it again on a 20+ year old truck.

The warranty extensions (2) only apply to 2013-2015 Cab Chassis (X-93 warranty extension) and 2015 2500 and 3500 pickups (X-99) warranty extension. If your truck is involved when the dealer runs a VIP it will show the X-xx warranty extension as part of the warranty coverage section.

Question for you @sag2, somewhere, I don't remember if it was here or elsewhere, I thought I read that they would reimburse for parts only for cases when people did their own work. I was just denied reimbursement because I did my own work.

Are you aware of reimbursement for parts only for? Do I just have a poor memory?

Thanks.

Go to the Chrysler's reimbursement request form HERE, enter your VIN, then click "GO". You can browse recalls and any extended warranties being offered and select any to submit a claim for reimbursement.

In the case of the extended warranty or a recall they are obligated to refund for the same work if it was already performed. If you have a valid receipt for the part they should reimburse you. Follow the link John posted to apply for reimbursement.

I have no idea what Ram's policy is on turbo and actuator warranty, but Cummins will only warranty a Turbo or Actuator if it was diagnosed and repaired at an authorized dealer.

Yes, I've done all that, that is how I was denied.

Assuming this is correct and Ram does not have the same policy as Cummins as posted above, do you have any suggestions?

I provided the invoice for the part, my credit card statement and the first lady I spoke with didn't seem to think part reimbursement would be a problem. I called this morning after being denied and the lady (different lady) said basically, "there needs to be a work order from a shop" (or similar) and that is it. Case closed.

As bad as it is in your case, but actually that is right. Where would this end if they start reimbursing parts without proof that they are bad? Everybody could start filing claims for parts and later sell them on eBay.
Which we, as buyer of the vehicles, would pay for in the end.

I understand this logic....I just thought I had heard of cases where others had been reimbursed for parts only. I sure wish the first lady I spoke with knew this, so I didn't have to waste my time tracking down a 2+ year old credit card statement.

So does a Ram Dealer count as an authorized dealer and what is the mileage/time frame for the Cummins warranty period? I got to pay $200 to the dealer in La Mesa, CA for the privilege to diagnose mine as the actuator, after I already told them the code it was showing. They wanted $2800 to replace it. I bought the City Diesel Actuator and did it myself for $1000.

Cummins gives no warranty to a Dodge or Ram truck. That was the deal arranged between Cummins and Dodge/Ram when they started putting Cummins engines in our trucks.

I just posted Cummins policy to let you know that even Cummins won't warranty a Turbo or Actuator, much less reimburse you, unless it is diagnosed and repaired by an authorized Cummins repair facility.

I would ask them to show you in writing where the extended warranty specifically says the repair has to be done by an authorized dealer. Call the 866-726-4636 number and ask them to provide the information.
Even if it was not a Mopar part, the Magnussen Moss Act specifically says the manufacturer can not make you install a factory part, as long as it is like kind and meets the specifications. I would not give up, as long as you have met all the other qualifications of the extended warranty.
