Lookin for a set of 150 hp inj . Looked at the jammer 5 inj for $ reasons but dont like to smoke alot . unless i want to :-laf . Is there an inj that smokes the least or is it a deal with it thing ?
 
I have the dd2 s now :) . This is great thanks for the info . So are the jammers not to good ? I know you get what you pay for most times .
 
I have never run the Jammers. I do really like my Machs.



When it somes to injectors you have to decide what process you want to use. Extrude honing or EDM. Not all are created equal. But you probably know that.



If you choose honed injectors, I would go to Extrude Hone. They are one of the only places that can hone and properly flow test the injector. Most shops use shop air and this process is not in any way accurate.



There are different types of EDM as well. Most of the differences appear to be the speed they cut the holes. The faster you go, the lower the quality. Again, many different factors there.

Dave, I'm going to have to completely disagree with you here. Extrude Hone as a company produces the machines and media with which you can extrude hone the nozzles. They are in no way, shape or form, a performance shop. How many dyno graphs do they have on their site? Do they have a dyno? Do they even have a truck to test in other than customers' trucks?



Sure, they have the capability to extrude hone a set of nozzles... many people do. But it's the R&D to determine what media to pick (from the thousands they offer), and what pressure to run them at, for how long, etc. There is a lot more to it than just hole size.



We used to use the extrude hone for all of our production and R&D components. We now EDM as it's much less time consuming and we get to start with a blank nozzle (that we build) and do what we want... we are not constrained by a factory nozzle. For production quantities, it makes much more sence.



Bottom line is there are several vendors that still offer this process. You'd be best served to search out these vendors and talk to them, rather than just have a set of stock nozzles extrude honed by someone who knows how to run a hone.

no offense meant to you. I know that you guys have put serious R&D into product. But, just because someone doesn't have a graph or dyno does not make them incompetant. Otherwise, why would so many use thier products? Are you telling me that they have no idea what media, pressure and volume to start with to get the desired results?



And there has been more than one company testing parts in customers trucks. I don't mean you, but there have been plenty. In addition to failures, poor real world performance, ect. You know the drill.



I am not saying honing is bad, but there are plenty of guys I would estimate to be far less qualified making injectors than yourself or extrude hone.

I think you missed the point Dave. Point was, the manufacturer of a machine doesn't need to be proficient in any of the many markets the machine is used int to be able to manufacture and produce it. Extrude Hone didn't start off in the diesel business... they are in the hone making business. Kind of like Garrett and Holset... they make turbos but they don't offer upgrade kits for cars and trucks just because they make the turbos. See what I'm getting at?

Diesel performance is a full time job if you want to do it right... not a side business because you have a hone sitting there. Having the equipment and having the knowledge is two different things. Ask anyone that has a hone if they can screw up a set of nozzles just as easily (probably easier) than doing it the right way.
 
I have jammer3s and I like the power but I think I would like to try some mach 1. 6s It sounds like they would be cleaner. I will be testing that theory in the next month or so.

Good reading material as I am looking into injectors now as soon as I free up some cash. I was looking at the mach's but still open to ideas.
