1500 degree egt's with only an Edge box!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been running an Edge box on my 03' SO for a while and just got my guages in. I had no idea this box would run so hot. It will hit 1500 degrees pretty easy. It runs 1100-1200 under normal throttle just cruising. Is that normal? I can't imagine how hot the PMCR is going to run. Seems like every day, I'm reminded how I should have kept the 01'. These 3rd gens kind of remind me of all the problems you hear about powercroaks. Are we sure these are not really a ford in diguise?

I've had my guages for 5,000 miles and have never been over 1350F pre turbo.



I run 400 to 500 at highway speeds, this is with the EZ on the secret setting #5.

Disconnect the EZ and see how hot it gets. How much boost does it make?

I have seen temps as high as 1400* and climbing before I let out of it. It doesn't seem to be a problem as long as I don't have my foot to the floor, but when I do, I can hit 1400*+ by the time I hit 80 mph, starting out in 2nd gear. This is with the truck unloaded. I have more than just an Edge EZ, but prior to installing all of the DD parts I could still hit over 1300* unloaded, with just the EZ on level 4. I had a similiar setup on my 2001 and the temps rarely saw 1250*. I currently have 16k miles on the truck and am hoping the temps will decrease as I put more miles on it. Either that or a set of twins .

That sound a little high and incorrect. I have an 03 SO model with an air intake system and the edge box on level 4. I have a x monitor and have never seen temps over 1050 unloaded and I get on it ever now and then. I put my 2000lbs cab over on it and still only can hit 1100. I think 1500 is a little high for an unloaded 03. Is everything hooked up right?

Thats not normal. My cruising temps are around 600 degrees. Your cruising temps should not be that hot. Definitely remove the Edge and get a baseline temp. Take it in if its running hot.

I agree. It sounds way out of whack. I've got it set on the "secret" level 5, but its making no where near enough power to be getting that hot. It hits 1400 in every gear if I run it up to 3000 rpms. I did not install the boost elbow. It only produces about 23 psi boost. Does that sound right also?

Install the elbow - your EGT's will go down. Your feeding your engine a lot more fuel and not much more air.

Mine will hit 34 #'s boost and my egt's stay around 1300* unless hold 100+ mph for a veryt long time!
