does a 1500 quad cab share the same frame as a 2500 quad cab? I understand that the springs and motor mounts are different, but are the dimensions of the frame the same? Way I see it, the only difference is what axles/motor/transmission/springs go on it that makes it a 1500 or a 2500. Real question is, would a 1500 frame be just as strong?

If I was betting man I would venture a guess that the 1500 frame is thinner tube material (gauge) than the 2500/3500 with the same mounts and overall dimensions. just a guess but it would be lighter and save money on steel yet it would be made with the same tooling.

I don't know about later trucks. The '95 Diesels have a 9 1/2" frame in the load areas. 7" on the gassers. So the gasser frame is not as strong as the diesel.

The frames are different and there is also a 2500 light duty which uses lighter axles as well. I believe it was the 360 ci gas motors.

The 2500 HD and 3500 frames are the same in the mid 90s.
