Wow, that'll wake you up..... does this seem ballpark from your experiences?

Rear Diff

Fuel Filter

Oil Change

Other misc as listed in Owners Manual

JG

Yup, my first 15k cost about $700.

I did it myself at 30k, and spent over $200 just on fluids. 3 gallons of delo 400, 10 quarts of 75/90 Mopar synthetic gear lube (like $9/qt), 5 qts synthetic Mopar MTL @ $12/qt, and 3 qts Mopar ATF+4 at $6/qt, add a couple of Stratopores and you're at about 250+/-

It took me 1/2 day. Worth saving the $450 if you ask me.

Seems like a small price to pay. $330 to service a $40k truck, $330 to service anything at any dealer seems "reasonable".

I can (and do) do the work on the Dodge, document it, and have no problems. I have another car in my sig that requires a dealer visit every 20k that gets close to $1000. If you don't have it done at the dealer, resale becomes harder. Figure in a $1500 set of tires every 20k as well and... ... . well, you gotta pay to play

That is a good price. My wife's '99 gasser just had a 30k service (90k miles) for twice that amount.

I assume they also flushed your 48RE. That alone is over $100.

I do mine myself except for the transmission and belts.

48re should be good until 25k miles :) I think a lot of the $330 is parts, Mopar FF, Mopar OF and Mopar synthetic diff fluid all add up pretty quickly.

Good point!

Just for a fun comparison, I had a Saab 25 years ago. The 30k service would run about $400 bucks even back then. Learned my lesson. Good ol' Dodge for me.

The service costs I hear people talk about for imports such as Volvo, Land Rover, etc. these days make me feel a lot better about Dodge dealer costs.

I'm like you, I do my own maintenance. I trust me better then I do those grease monkeys at the dealers.

Yep... I agree... . fortunately I am pretty mechanically inclined, though this is my 1st diesel

I do all the maintenance to save money, because I like to do it, and Most of all to keep those dealer kids away from my truck... . there have been too many "trainees" that have goofed up something when doing a simple oil change... .

I do this:

Mobil 1 Truck and Suv... . 12 qts... . $62. 00

Fleetguard filter... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . $10. 00

5 qts ATF+4 @ $4/qt... ... ... ... ... ... $20. 00

Trans filter... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . $16. 00

Mobil 1 75w90 gear oil @ $9/qt... . $36. 00

Air Filter... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... $16. 00

Fuel Filter (Napa)... ... ... ... ... ... ..... $11. 00

======

Total... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... $171. 00

So, I guess I save about 1/2, but, again, I know it is done correctly and I don't have gear oil or motor oil all over my steering wheel... . Oo.

Thanks for the feedback guys... . I dont do any car maintenance becasue I have 8 dirtbikes that get ridden several times a week... . and they take way too much maintenance... . I'm pretty worn out just with them, nothing left for the truck...

Serpentine belt are the easiest item to replace on the entire truck. Try doing it yourself next time, you'll be impressed.
