2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 16.5 tires a thing of the past

I can't seem to find 33x12. 50 R 16. 5 lt 118R M&S tires for my 1998 2500 4X4 it has an Alaskan cab-over camper so need to change tires and rims any suggestions?

Back in 1970 I owned a Chevy C2500 pickup I carried a slide-in camper on and had a set of 12 by 16. 5" tires on the rear and 10 16. 5" on the front. Haven't seen any 16. 5" wheels or tires in years but apparently somebody still makes them. These might be from Communist China, who knows?

16. 5's are still around, just not in the configuration you need. Mostly lowboy style trailer tires.



Switch it up to 19. 5, lots of tread options. They are not going away. all the new hd trucks have 19. 5 options. For the milage you get out of them, they are not that costly, mine have already paid for themselves and still have 75% tread left.

16. 5 are going, going, going, almost gone... . I'd get 17'' or 18'' with 'E' rated tires which will give you the greatest selection. I would think 19. 5 would be overkill for you. I've got 17'' on all three of my trucks.



I had some 35-12. 5*16. 5 BFG All Terrains and rims and switched them onto an 2000 Ford Excusion I had for sale a few years back to get rid of them. I'd already looked some and the selection was getting nil.

With the camper, i think you would enjoy the stability of a set of 12ply 19. 5's.

The story I just read about these 19. 5's seems a pretty good deal overall. Where would these be available? What style of tread designs are available? I drive on a lot of construction sites with all types of difficulties and ever changing mud or rocks and trash. Where in central Indiana?

I got rid of my 16. 5s. Your choices are limited unless you want to run super swampers or grownd hawgs. Bfg all terrains are still available, but they are D rated. I felt 17s were the best choice for my needs. Good luck in your search for the right combo.

There are several military vehicles that still carry 16. 5 tires. I see them at equipment auctions all the time. Might want to look up someone that deals with army surplus stuff.

the only sizes for military that are 16. 5 are 36x12. 50x16. 5 crap tires or a 37x12. 50Rx16. 5 gooddyear radial tire they work really well on the first gen's only seen a couple 2nd gen's that r running them . PM me if you need some thou I can get them

I got mine at les schwab. lots of tread designs to choose from, from straight highway rib, to military bar style, to tractor style tread. I am on track to get over 150k out of my set. I found a used set for $20 per tire, perfect condition 14/32" of tread left... . big time score!

thanks for the information looks like new rims and tires now to find a size that won't go the way of the 16. 5's I'll let you know which one's I pick that will give you all about 2 years before they go out of production thanks again I also have a little bird of happness that likes to cr-- on my head on a regular basis it's free to a good home. .
