16" rim on 3rd gen

Quick question, will a 16" Dodge rim fit on my 06? My truck is missing the spare and a used 17" rim is turning out to be a hard item to find. Dodge wants over $200 for a steel rim. Locally, there are plenty of 16" rims off 2nd gen trucks. Just wondering if they'll clear brake parts and the like.

It is my understanding that the gen 2 wheels will not clear the larger brakes on the gen 3 trucks. Maybe someone with "experience" can confirm this.

I was wondering that exact thing. I hoped there was a "reason" these trucks have 17's on them.

16 inch rims will not fit the 3rd gen pickups, as stated they will not fit over the brakes. I have both a 2nd and 3rd gen pickups and tried the 16 inch rims of 2 styles on my 05 and sure enough the brakes are to large and will not allow it.

Thanks BILLVO. Kinda like trying to put the later gen 2 aluminum wheels on the drum brake of the early gen 2s, only worse.

Some of the aftermarket cast 17" wheels will not fit over the calipers on the 3rd gens, its why I have 18" wheels.

Ian, also watch ebay, there on there cheap at times, and the brown truck shows up with it in a few days , less hassle and time.

Yeah, I've seen them listed on eBay starting at $69. The shipping is about $40. If I can't find one around here for less than $100, then eBay is what I'll most likely do.
