Yesterday I installed a new Dodge IP in my 2001 2500 with 102k. The reason I installed the pump was that on two different occasions when pulling a 7000 lbs trailer up a large hill the truck lost power and cut out momentarily. Both times when I got home the 216 code had been set, other that that the truck ran perfect and set no codes. I had driven the truck another two months with no problem ( without a trailer ) and decided with my work season coming up shortly I would change out the lift pump and the IP to avoid having a problem during my busy season. I installed the new in tank conversion from Dodge waited three weeks and yesterday I installed a new Dodge IP. Both installs went well with no problems. Today I drove the truck for the first time sence installing the IP. I was out meeting customers and had been running the truck off and on for about two hours. After meeting with a customer I got back in the truck and started it up, it ran ruff for a quarter mile and stalled. I started it back up and drove it home ten miles with no problem. When I got home the code 1689 was in the system. I cleared the coded, started the truck and went for a ten mile ride and almost didnt make it home the truck started running so ruff. When I checked again the code 1689 was back. I checked the connecter at the IP and its wires and it all looks good. Could it be a bad pump from dodge ? The pump was remanufactured by Dodge and I did not know this untill I opened the box. I called them before installing it and they said that I could not buy a new one and that was all that was available from Dodge. I paid $ 1300. 00 for the pump. Does anybody know if this is true? I could definitly use some help!!!!!!!
