Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 1689 problems

Ok, turck stumbled hiccuped twice a while back then ran fine, three weeks ago it just died going down the road, cranked back a few times and then nothing. 1689 code, asked around ordered and installed new ip. Truck still has 1689 and will not start. Runs fine on ether but wont run on its on. I have bled the fuel to the injectors, pulled the truck in gear two miles, left the battery cables off all night but nothing seems to help. I am out of ideas and money and am walking. Help truck is 99 2500 standard with fass system.

Good news, I searched the forums on three sites listed and got multiple replies and it runs. I removed the cables and depleted any charge in the system with switch, lights, ac and radio. Cleaned all cables, wires and posts. Switched fuses and relays around. Turned everything off. Hooked everything back up. Charged batteries and it fired right up and runs perfect. 1689 is definately an electrical problem. J Napier
