Tonite I installed and new vp44. After I got it fired it had tons of smoke. And smokes at idle. I cant really tell the smoke b/c its dark out. But it looks white. The truck has the 1690 code, companion and the 0216. But I bleieve that code is from before. Loose connection, or is something else wrong. Thanks for the help. I know normal smoke. And this is not normal.

From 99 manual P1690 (m) fuel injection Pump CKP Sensor Does not Agree with ECM CKP sensor. Problem in fuel Sync signal Possible injection pump timing Problem. Low power ,engine derated, or engine stops. Hope this helps . P. S sure you have the correct key. ? Ron Bissett in metro Louisville KY .

Yes I have the correct key. Truck will make no boost. When I powerbrake it only goes to 1300 rpm. The smoke is all bluish white. It runs rougher when I put it in gear. But starts fine. Either way, as long as its running. It is smoking. (Picture a smoke machine a a Rave. ) lol Anyway, I need to figure this out. I need this truck on the road asap. :( :( :(

While back we had a member that had trouble after motor work seems like he left a rag in the air intake that was to keep out any dirt etc. No boost would be caused by some thing like that or a loose hose . Just a guess . Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY

Not familiar but is/could the key be put in "backwards" (as in it has the step going the wrong way)? Could this not do a bigger retard or advance than it normally would? As I said - not familiar with it but... ... .

I checked for the rag right away, and the key is in correctly. I umplugged the box and all, and cannot find anything wrong. :(
