HAH forgot about this post. YES finally found what had happend. The cam gear had moved on the cam and allowed cam to move forward. The gear was actually rubbing against the front cover at times. Pulled the cam out, put it back where it should have been and havent had an issue since. That was 20k miles ago. We ended up using Blue Chips site to run the pump without any electronics and it ran perfect. So we knew it had to be something else. The cam gear would move forward, then sensor couldnt find gear and would throw the code. If truck stayed reved up a little, would keep the cam back and would run great lol.
With it revving on its own, could be a problem with the APPS sensor. Mine was doing that and i replaced mine with a Timbos APPS and has worked great since.
Hope this helps if ya need anything else let me know. That was a nightmare for me!

I had a dealer (now out of business) pull the cam and replace the gear case to block gasket. The killer dowel pin had worked out and the gear case moved and took out the gasket. When the tec re installed the cam he set it on the wrong timing marks. The engine would run with a gallop then throw codes. 3 Vp44 pumps later as the tec would never admit the cam was indexed wrong and 6 months later I finally got them to take the truck back. I'm not sayin this is your problem but just sharing the horror story. I would check all your grounds. maybe have the Alt checked to see that it's putting out clean electric. Just because it is charging does not mean that there is not noise coming out of it.

Doing a quick search there are 16 star cases that popped up. If you have not done so yet disconnect the alternator and lift pump while running to see if it changes sytoms

Your problem may be caused by electrical noise.

When checking the wiring don't settle for resistance test. Apply a load such as a sealed beam and check for volt drop. An ohmmeter may show circuit being ok but it may not be able to carry the amperage required
