Had my truck on the scanner today for some transmission trouble shooting and the 1693 code came up. Have had the check engine light come on only once and that was when i was checking the TPS voltage and accidentally turned the key on with it unhooked. I unhooked the batteries overnight and it was off then the next morn. My question is do you think this is what brought up the 1693 or could it maybe be map sensor connection or ?

P1693 is a fault code stored in the companion engine module. May have been from the previous check engine light you caused,It is a fairly popular code which seems to do nothing. It will probably dissappear on it's own.

I had it too...

... When I hooked up the snap-on scanner, along with the M. A. P. sensor code. The M. A. P. code would clear the 1693 would not. Probably something only the dealer can access:( ... Doug

I think the code is in the cummins ECM,so you can't see it. The P1693 shows up in the Dodge ECM to let you know it's there. Maybe someone with the cummins software would know more about it or maybe how to clear it. Anyone ?

Unless I am mistaken, codes are like luggage, you keep them forever, once they are set. You need to find a buddy with a scanner to remove them.

FFutch,

With the SnapOn scanner, you have to clear the code in both computers. It took me a couple of times to figure that out.

Hope this helps.

That's strange,ny Snap-on won't let me into the Cummins ECM at all, nothing there for it. Any ideas ? Or is it hidden in there somewhere ?
