The disassembly went so smoothly that I thought you guys had been pulling my leg. Then I had to seperate the old housing from the compressor!

I tried some little love taps with a hard plastic mallet, with lots of rust eater sprayed around the joint. Just when I was about to go psycho ballistic, I remembered a post about this very thing, not so long ago.

I cleaned my hands as best as I could (so my wife wouldn't go psycho ballistic) and headed for the computer. I searched for "turbo housing removal". I think the name of the post that came up was called "Turbo Housing Removal Woes", by JHolt.

It was my very problem. I tried the bolt pushing for a very little bit, with no success. I liked the BFH option better. I removed the oil lines and set it on the garage floor. All it really took was about 8 or 9 well placed hits to budge it.

I especially want to thank you all for warning about removing it without binding the impeller blades. After breaking the seal I spent about 2 minutes tapping it off.

For anyone else getting ready to do this, look up the above post and read it all the way through. When I went to reassemble, I put all the bolts in hand tight and snug. I put the oil drain back down in it's hose and the flange wouldn't align. I backed the housing bolts just a bit and turned it until everything lined up.

Then I took my trusty Sharpie pen and made 2 separate line up marks. I took it back out onto the floor and tightened everything up. Now that may sound like more work to some of you all, but the backs of my hands don't have any cuts or gouges. It has only taken me 40 some years to reach this point.

Lastly, thanks to everyone that posts to this group. I'd list everyone in the "Removal Woes" post... . but that would be like REAL work!! You guys are the greatest, and once again my subscription has more than paid for itself.
