Where is the best place to get a 16CM2 housing? Best Price? I want to save some money and get it Jet coated before installing it.

The exhaust is going to have to be moved forward some or is there an adaptor?

You could also check with some of the performance shops for used ones. Us folks are ALWAYS upgrading something. #ad

Give TST a call.

I have one with 1k miles on it from my 97. I tried e-mailing you but I don't know if it went thru. If your still interested, try e-mailing me. Craig

C Schomer, Why did you remove the 16cm? I have my egt pretty much under control now, but have considered trying a 16 anyway.

I have a 16cm2 laying in the garage. I have been thinking about installing it but, I read a post on this forum by someone who claims they only help at upper rpm, say around 2500 rpm. I am usually towing around 2000-2100 rpm. and do not want to mess up the responsiveness [did I spell that correctly?] of the turbo.

Duke,I started driving my truck for a daily commuter - I like it so much better than my work car(94 grand am). I'll save the 94 for winter. I'm in town a lot now and just like the 14 better for that. Don't get me wrong, the 16 is dynamite and I wouldn't discourage anyone from using it. Even with the 14 (and towing),I constantly have to slow down for the weeny cars on all the hills and no PSD will come close to it. I know, I'm sick - I'm happy with less power! FYI,on my test hill(towing),the 16 was 2mph faster than the 14 with no other changes. If you want max power, you want the 16.

Drawson, If you decide you want a 14, let me know. Mike

C Schomer, As a seat of the pants guess,at what rpm would you think the 16 starts to equal the 12? I'm putting out enough torque that even with a converter and trans work I don,t use full throttle with the converter locked at less than about 1800 rpm.

Pier"s gov spring kit has made a big diff in the way the truck performs. I now have about 20 mph more useable speed in third gear for passing, so I can shift into OD at a higher rpm and be a little easier on the lockup clutches.

I went from a 12 to a 16 on my 24valve at Bruce Mallinson's recommendation to reduce EGT's. I'm stage 3 at 350HP. The 12cm housing has too much back pressure for a heavily fueled 24 valve. The 12valve engine does not breathe as well and needs more boost to overcome the internal back pressure. Consequently a 14cm housing would be fine. 12valves will not benefit from larger housings unless the compressor is changed to HX40 for more boost and 4" exhaust is used along with ported heads. 12valves run 10 pounds more boost than 24valves at the same HP levels, unless porting is done. I used to be at 31Lbs all the time with the 12 and now get more HP at 27Lbs with the 16. Throttle response change was not noticeable. Torque curve on the dyno is similar but more of it.
EGT's dropped 200 degs. Too much housing will damage low RPM power.

Duke, I haven't had the 12 for so long I don't remember. The 16 doesn't help much around 2k rpm, in fact the engine sounds doggy but above 2500 the 16 was a very noticeable difference. The 24v autos have the HY35. Can anyone tell me if the 24v manuals have the HX35?? If they do I might keep this 16 for a later date. Craig

What are the pros and cons of moving the stock torque plate forward and a 16 housing on a 95 5spd
