I have 8 lug 16"x8" wheels. I'd like to get bigger tires with the wheels I have. Goodyear Workhorse 235/85/R16 tires on now. I'd like to get some Michelins. How big can I go with the wheels I have? Bill

315/75/16 if you have enough lift in truck too clear. 4" lift would be just right. If you aren't going with a lift you can do 285/75/16 and only have a little tire rub when turning and hitting a bump at same time.

My dad and I both have 265/75/16's (his are on a bowtie though  ) The only difference is the wheels. His are 16x6 and mine are 16x8. My stock wheels were 16x6. The tires on the 6" wheels have noticably more bulge (donut-like shape) but they work just fine. On the 8" wheels, they look much better, less bulge, and it makes the tires look bigger.

According to the Tire & Rim Association Handbook, anything from 255's to 315's are approved for 8" rims. There are a few 245's as well. Pretty much independent of sidewall - anything from 55 to 85 series. This is only what's recommended - you can find users outside of this range on both ends that have had good experiences (maybe even yourself with 235's!)

Good luck!
