Has anyone tried putting the 8" x 17" wheels and tires off a 2003 or so truck on a 97 like mine? If so, what did it take to do it?

i have not done it personally but there are alot of posts about it. they apparently sit in closer to the truck and the the alloy center caps need to be customized. thought about doing this my self... would love to have a wider wheel

HI, I bought 17" alloys and bfg's of a 2004 with 26 miles, took me about 20 minutes to put them on my 96 4x4. 26k miles with absolutely no problems, the caps fit on the alloy wheels with no issues at all, I think the cap issue is with the steel wheel because the center is thinner.

I put the wheels of my dad's 04. 5 17'" aloy wheels on my 96 with no problem they bolted right up and the centers fir fine too
