17" wheels

I will be flying to Idaho next week to pick up my new 2003 quad cab SLT HO w/6spd. It comes standard with 17" chrome steel wheels.



Question - Since it is still with the dealer, is it worth upgrading to the 17" aluminum wheels?? I've read in TDR before that the 16" steel wheels offered on the '94-'02 trucks where not the best well balanced wheel and was wondering if this is also the case with the 17s.

Mine seem to be fine. Might be costly to swap at the dealer.

My factory steel wheels/chrome plated seem fine, have a 4 wheel drive and find steel wheels more durable.

I bought some stock aluminum wheels off of ebay($450), I like the way the aluminum wheel looks and they don't have the mud groove that the stock steel wheels have. The stock steel wheels are very heavy and they are not really chrome, they have a very thin layer of chromed metal on them. And I've got some stock steel wheels for sale, who needs some?
