Help me please! The dealer (Elway Dodge on Arapahoe) told me tonight that "these reflashes are the same thing and if you do one, you're doing the other". Isn't this a crock of s*%t ? I know I'm a newbie but I do pay attn. to the stuff you guys post here. Picked up the truck after dropping it off yesterday for tire rotation and reflash for the mileage , white smoke and overhead accuracy (TSB 18-037-04, right?). I even printed the TSB from a thread on this site and left it on my driver's front seat for them. When I picked it up tonight, I saw the charge for the tire rotation ($14. 95 not bad) and the note about the reflash request. Service writer wrote that tech said it was already done in Sept. when I got high idle flash done. What do you guys think? By the way, when I asked about the required stickers for the flashes the tech said "they were not there and must have fallen off". I know the high idle TSB was done cuz I use it nearly every day lately.

It depends on when in Sept. you had your flash done. 18-037-04 was dated 9-27-04. I went through something similar with my dealer. They explained to me that when you bring in your vehicle for a reflash they enter your engine ID number in their computer and it tells what reflash is current and applicable to your specific engine. That flash is supposed to contain all the current updates. According to the tech I talked to (and have confidence in) they can't just pick out a reflash from a list and do it. They can only do the ones applicable to your serial number and engine manufacture date.

If they did a reflash on your vehicle after 18-037-04 came out and it applied to your vehicle, then you should have it. You can not read the actual TSB number from your truck's computer... only the date it was updated.

The reason I was concerned about mine was after I had mine done in October the sticker indicated that 18-007-04 had been done instead of 18-037-04. The tech said that he just put an old number down by mistake. He did not have the option to select an older reflash because only the newer one was available. They download the flashes from TECHconnect when needed. They do not store old ones for re-use.

In your case there IS a difference in 18-004-04 and 18-037-04, and if you had your reflash before 18-037-04 came out then you probably do not have the latest update.

Do yourself a favor and ask for Rodney. He is the service manager. Who was your service rep? Tell Rodney Tommie (Tom Snyder) mentioned you should talk with him. The key word is talk and be sure to give them a good rating if you are satisfied after they do the work. They have been very good if I show the tsb and also ask for the high idle to be enabled while you are there. The two TSBs are different. Mine has the sticker near the radiator. Good Luck. Tommie
