Will 18 degrees advance be too much for my 12V?

Stock pump, stock injectors. Dis-abled waste gate. Federal Air Horn. Complete DTT Billet trans. 3. 54 Gears. This truck is now a TOY. The most it will tow on a semi-regular basis is an 18' Aluminum boat w/115 HP Mercury OB/Jet.

Right now it's at 16. 5. I want a little more pop! Oo.

Thanks in advance. Stranger.

i would stay at 16. 5 deg. for the sake of your head gasket, once you go over 16. 5, cylinder pressures start to spike more, and that can be the death of a stock head gasket in no time, once you get oringed and studded, then you can add more timing. if you want a little more pop, timing wont help you untill you get some more fuel, i would suggest a set of injectors and a fuel plate, that will wake your truck up. also a 3k GSK will make your power band go out further without defueling, one of the best mods for a 12v.

I agree with WDimig, anything over 16. 5 is bad on the HG. I have mine set at 16. 5 also, with a stock HG. I see you have an auto. You need to get a #10 plate in that pump, even possibly have it fuel balanced. You`ll really see some 'pop' then. Try the plate before injectors, you`ll be suprised.

How much boost are you getting with that wastegate plugged? Your turbo can handle about 35psi max safely.
