My dad bought a set of used 18" steel wheels to put winter tires on to run between his 06 and 17.

He grabbed a set of the uncapped lugnuts for the 17 from the dealer but he can't get the center caps to fit. It appears the center caps that came with his 18's need larger diameter lugnuts, but all the lugnuts he found only take a 7/8" wrench vs the 15/16" wrench for the 03-09 trucks.

Anyone with 18" steel wheels want to shed some light on how they attach?

Dually? Or SRW?

Dually only comes with 17's.

The center caps on my Tradesman (18" wheels) snap on to the lug nuts and are TIGHT. From the sounds of it, you have the opposite issue. Are you sure the center caps are OEM and not some aftermarket? I've seen some very poorly fitting after market center caps that were so loose they could be heard rattling at lower speeds.

I haven't seen them attempt to be installed, but when I saw them last fall (he bought them near my house) they were OEM.

SRW... there isn't a 18" option for DRW's that I am aware of.

You're right. My bad.

I was just wondering why there would be larger lug nuts on a SRW.

I use the center caps that came on my 17" chrome clad steel wheels on my more recently acquired ebay 18 in steel wheels.
