Well, guys just as promised I made this 18" steering wheel for a Kenworth fit my truck and I got my carpet cover on the dashboard. Starting to look pretty sweet... check it out and tell me what you think!

After hearing some airbag stories, I decided I didn't like it being there anyway. If it can kill a child in the front seat you know, those kids are pretty tough too. I've seen them fall and hit there heads hard enough to put me down and they keep on going. My buddy who is a service manager at the dealer (best friend to have!) said they sound like a shotgun going off and this baking soda like powder goes all over the place. You should have seen me hiding under the dash while removing it! I'm not saying everyone should take it out, but it's just not for me.

That is a sweet set up:cool:

I have seen air bags intentionally set off, they go about 10-20 feet in the air and yes they sound like a shot gun.

Pretty impressive. Looks better than my T800.

The airbag thing. . . Don't let little kids drive, they are more prone to hitting things that may cause an airbag deployment. On my '01 there is a switch to shut the passenger side down when children are there. The powder getting all over the place is a lot easier to clean up when you're alive :p . When I was with GoodHew ambulance in L. A. , there was concern about the airbags being too powerful and they commonly caused damage (lacerations) to the liver and affected other internal organs. It became SOP to rule these possibilities out when patients were brought into the ER because sometimes they were treated for minor injuries and released before becoming symptomatic of a Lacerated Liver. Only to die of it, when it was easily repairable.

Since then, the airbags have been changed to decrease their power, yet provide adequate protection for adults in conjunction with proper seatbelt use. People have walked away from huge head-ons, that should have demolished them. It is a truly ingenious device. Well worth the cost.

Enough lecture, you know what you want, and that's a pretty cool wheel!:)

Thanks for the compliments! I have since stained the dash a darker (rosewood) color to match the wheel better. I still have yet to get the chrome labels for all the switches and lights, and the rosewood and chrome Fuller shift knob (the main switch works the gearvendor and the red one works the exhaust brake via P/E's... pnuematic/electric pressure switches. ) cool huh? It's not really too much time on my hands for doing this stuff, that's the easy part... . it's dreaming this stuff up that takes time:eek:

:--) :--) :--) Burkey... .

I think the air is getting a little thin on the mountain out there isn't it????. Nice job and I am glad to see your not MIA anymore. Ya know the group has had your picture put on a milk carton for a long time now:D :D :D :D . BTW,I could never do that to mine, the last thing I want to see is another big rig dash when I get out of one:rolleyes:   ... ..... Andy
