I went to the Cummins dealer today to buy a 180 degree thermostat and he told me they needed a serial number because the thermostat "might be different from an ETC to an ETH". Does any body know if this is the case before I pull the old thermostat. I have a etc

Ginos quit selling them because of this problem. Every time I call Cummins they ask for my serial number.

The thermostat I just bought was different then the one I bought in 99, which was different then the one that was put in in in 1998

I would keep your serial number handy for any time you deal with Cummins. It helps them get you the correct parts.

ETC?

I still don't know what ETC means, but look at my sig. I confirmed the part number with Cummins before I sent the wife to pick one up.

Part # 3954194 for the 180 degree thermostat.

3954194 is the part# that Cummins sold me for my ETH. Works great. It did not accomplish what I wanted and that was to abate the pesky engine fan from coming on so often. Maybe it has something to do with the head pressure of the A/C??????

Barry,

Yes, the AC has to do with why your fan engauges frequently, it takes heat in order to make cold. When the AC is on, the condensor will get warm, therefore the it needs to have air running through it, to cool it down.

I have electric fans on mine, and have them wired in line with the AC, so that when the AC in on, so are the fans, otherwise the engine would over heat if left idling for a period of time.

Later, Rob
