:) I was wondering if and body has put a stock 215 and 180 pump on a flow stand with same plate ,all the way forward and seen what the cc diff is?
 
Hi Doug,

I believe it's more than just fuel volume. The 215 has a different camshaft with a more aggressive profile. The steeper ramps deliver more fuel earlier in the injectioncycle. So, even if the fuel volume was the same (which I don't believe they are) the 215 would make more power because of the camshaft.

I'm sure others that know much more about these than me will chime in.

The helix is the relief cut in to the top of the plunger... not the cam.

There are methods to make a truck perform regardless of the hp rating from which it was born. The easy way is to get a 215 or even a 180 pump. Others have figured out how to run in the low 12's with a 160 pump.



This does not directly answer your question Doug. But hp and/or performance are not directly related to the output of the injection pump.
 
As said above, the 160 can easily be made to flow enough for all but the extreme hp junkies. The easiest way I know of is to just call Jeff Garmon. Order the parts from him, and let him tell you what to do to make it run really well. He played with mine before I went crazy, and it was awesome to say the least.

I've got the 94 in my sig. , and I do not plan to race/pull , ect. , want fuel econonmy , reliablilty , max HP about 350-400 , for Airstream mtns. hall equipt. on occation , gold minning .
