I am looking at getting a set of 19. 5's, but wanted to know if it is worth it and where or who you would buy through? The truck is used to tow our horse trailer (about 16,000lbs loaded). I was just using them as a piece of mind and to help the 4:10 issues on hwy. Thanks in advance

Absolutely positively 100% worth it especially if you do a lot of heavy towing with which it sounds like you do I am running the steel Rickson's absolutely love them and tires that I am running are Michelin xde/ms 245/70/19. 5 absolutely love these tires you can't kill them. Once you go 19. 5 you'll never want anything else is just a joke but you better be ready to part with some big money #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!:{:{:{:{

I went with Vision 81 wheels and Toyo Tires. They handle my heavy camper, trailer and Jeep no problem. I considered the Rickson's. I think they take 8wks to arrive. I bought my Vision wheels/tires through Les Schwab. It took two days. Could've gone through Discount Tire with Kuhmo tires with same two day wait.

19.5 Mkw

I just got the MKWs and Hankook 245s. Like you, I tow a very heavy trailer, and have had two blowouts while underway on the junk stock tires. Anyway, I put it off long enough and bit the bullet. First tow starts about 4:30 am tomorrow morning. I'll post results about handling, etc.

One good thing already, is that I dropped about 110 rpm at 70 mph after updating the ABS tire size (used Smarty).

My truck has 3. 55 gears and I also tow a heavy trailer (13,000#). I would like to upgrade to something better than the load range E tires I use now but I really cannot afford much of an increase in tire diameter. I feel I am stuck with the 16" E rated tires. Any suggestions?

I'm using 245/70 R19. 5 tires that gave a slight increase in tire diameter. For your application, might look into 225/70 R19. 5 in a G or H rated tire. The F rated tire will be stronger than your stock. But, won't be as significant as the G or H.

What's the best tire to go with, if you have a 2wd 3500? I've seen guys with 225/70R19. 5 and others with 245/70R19. 5.

Where can I find exact tire diameter listings? I have seen so much variance from one to another that knowing the true diameter is the only way to compare.

Thanks

Bill

Anybody know why Rickson isn't carrying forged aluminum wheels anymore for the time being?

From what I read previously, they had a vendor lined to make the forged aluminum. That fell through. They've had problems since trying to line up a new vendor. That's why they also sell the cast aluminum from Vision.
