Installed 19. 5 tires and wheels about 8000 miles ago.



I went with Michellin XZE 225 and Vision Wheels.



I run 80 LBS in Front and 100+ in Rear. 5er pin weight is 4000#.



Timbren springs and the 19. 5s hold the weight just fine on the SWR. Just putting off new truck till the 4500s, are out (I hope). 450 I guess if no 4500!



GCVW 26000+, getting 12 to 14 mpg loaded, 22 when solo.



Rides lots rougher than the 265-17s. Only 3/8" bigger so no finder rub.

I have a 15K 5th wheel, I run max air at 95 psi, i get about 10 Mpg ... including alot of hills in Mountain time zone,



Good rolling resistance, Long life, holds the weight just fine.

67K+ on my Mich XDE-MS 245's and they're good for another 30-40K. That's towing heavy the vast majority of the time. I try to run PSI somewhere around 75psi front and rear. I tweek pressure depending on tire wear pattern as I go. I have a hard time admitting to myself that these things actually cost me fuel mileage. They're just too heavy. 6 heavy steel rims and 6 ungodly heavy 16ply tires ain't gonna improve mileage too often.



Loaded weight is 33-38K--one way = half my total miles

Empty 15. 5k



My only regret is getting the 6. 75" rims and 245 16 plys. Could have saved myself approx 25lb per unit and $300-$400. 225 12 plys will go on next time.

The Aluminum Rims I have are Light like the Stock 16's... ... My rims weigh 30# each and the tires I have... like Cattle above, is the same save for mine are 12 ply... not 16... . This is lighter as well.



The total weight of my set above in the pics are a little higher, but not overly so. That is why I bought the Aluminum Rims. These are rated at 4500 # so no problem there... .

How many miles on your Michelins.



I have the Hankook 245s in a 14 ply and they are not wearing as well as I would like. I now have a little over 40K on them and they are 2/3 worn out. I have rotated them very aggressively ( every 5K) and the wear is still not quite even, The outsides are wearing slightly faster than the insides. the tire sings more than I would like, espessially on newly paved roads. The mileage is not changed the best I can tell one way or the other. They have been the best balanced tire I have ever had. They were balanced at Rickson and they added Equal pellets. The only other complaint I have is they follow the groves in the road much more than stock tires. Sometimes the truck shifts very abruptly if the road groove (rut) shifts.

I usually run about 75psi unless I get a pin weight or tounge weight above 1500 lbs. Then I will bump it up to 85 Psi. I wuld like to run lesswhen unloaded, but it seems to increase the wear on the outsides of the tire greatly if you drop below 75Psi.

My plan is to go with a 225 in 12 ply when I change. I would like to have a less aggressive tread simular to a M/S rated tire. Given the money I have spent, and the wear I have received, I do not know if I would go with 19. 5s again. I am sure that I could sell my rims for good money and not get hurt too bad.

I only hook my 19. 5's in the summer when I am towing and put the 16's on in the winter to save them from the road salt here in Salt Lake City so the wear is not apparent yet. On a 14 ply, it would seem that 75 PSI unloaded would be OK... I lower mine to like 60 or so on the rear and like 75 front. I run 95 when towing all the time so maybe that is what you should do on yours. Run it up a ways to wear some on the inside... .

Would like an update on your 19. 5s. I am at about 50K and my Hankooks are nearly gone. I am torn between going back to stock for $800. 00 or sink $1200. 00 in a set of Michelins. I am leaning towards the 225 in a 12 ply. When I talk with Rickson they say EVERYBODY complains about the noise the Michelins make. What kind of noise are you getting? bearable/unbearable Do passengers complain? How many miles are you going to get out of them?

I will go back to stock and sell my wheels if I can't get any more miles than this!

The ONLY reson I'm thinking of going with a different tire next time is 'cause of the ridiculous howling.



I've got over 71K on my XDE's now. At about the 69K mark, I grabbed a tire depth gauge and did some checking. Out of an original 22/32nd's, I had an average of about 12/32nd's left!!!!!!! Factoring in legal tread depth on the rears is 2/32nd's, my tires were about 1/2 wore out at 69K!!! I've never gotten more than 50K out of a set of tires before the changeover. I'm on track to get somewheres around 130-140K out of these things. That's absolutely amazing. I'm trying not to get too excited, cause I'm sure they'll start wearing funny or I won't be able to get the max outta them for some reason, but so far I'm thrilled with the wear-ability. Please go back and re-read my first post to get an idea of the weight I haul.



The noise is very annoying at times. I'd love to have a nice quiet ride sometimes. It's only unbearable when I'm in a "quiet mood", trying to kick back and relax a little. Otherwise it's just the sound of kickarse tires doing their thing.



I doubt the Mich's with a more "highway" tread are near as noisy.



EDIT: This is the first set of Mich's I've ever owned. Anybody who tries is gonna have a hard time convincing me there's something better.



EDIT 2: There's a thread from about 15mos ago where this was discussed. Due to the tall tread (22/32's) the XDE's are very "squishy" for about 10K. It's actually bad, yet AWESOME at the same time. I think it's great that it takes 10K for your tires to break in. Others find it really annoying trying to herd your p/u down the road. Grooved concrete is not fun.



Snow/ice traction is unbeatable.

How aggressive are you at rotating?



I am thinking of going to a rib front and XDEs on back. i know it will look funny, but I am hoping to get better wear and feel out of the deal. i do think I will go with 12 ply tires in the 225 size. This will get me a softer tire with the 12 ply and help my gear ratio get back to stock.

I started out rotating by the book every 10K. The book rotation is stupid so I switched it up a little. After a few rotations I realized I was swapping tires with the same amount of tread left so I stretched it to 20K. I'm not sure where I'm at now, but I'm probably due for another rotation soon.

Where did you get the wheels I am very interested in that

I am seeing no wear on my Michelin XZE 225 G range tires. No noise at all. But I am loosing my confidence in them. All the torque of the 5. 9 and the highway tread causes the tires to slip bad when the road is wet. Almost lost my 5er and truck a couple of weeks when the spinning tires pulled me across 2 lanes when accelerating from a light, going up incline. Had a car, truck been coming I would have got it head on, all before I knew what was happening. You would think 4000 lbs. tongue weight in the back of the bed would make the tires hold the road and not spin and slide the rear sideways. Scareed the pee out of me and wife.

I picked up a DRW set of 19. 5s off the classifieds that came with 225 75 19. 5 Hankooks. The fronts are ribbed AH06 and the rears are traction DH01s. I've put around 6K over the winter and have been very pleased with the traction and ride. I knew from the get go that the 19. 5s would wander the grooves more. Just takes getting use to. The drivers do whine some, but not enough to be annoying.

They have been the best balanced tire I have ever had.

. They do not have a hint of front shimmy like the other two sets of tires and wheels I've had on this truck did.



As far as wear... to soon to tell. IMHO, the 225s are plenty of tire for most needs. Would I do it again. For the deal I got, yep.

I would love to see a pic of this. I am going to go with a drive/steer combo if I stay with the 19. 5s. I just wonder how it would look on a SRW 4X4. My combo would be a Michelin.

harder rubber compound... last forever, but don't grip very well in stuff other than dry [and that xze tire has nearly no siping in them. not a wet/snow performer. . ]

I too am interested in 19. 5 tire combination. Has anyone run adapters with 265/70 -19. 5 on a 3rd gen dually. Did it require a lift? I know the ricksons will fit with a 265 but I don't know if a adapter set up does. Anyone that is running adapters have you had any problems? Thanks for your help I am a newbie here. How do you set up your signature?

Personally, I think you will find 19. 5 70 265s are way too much tire. Some folks have decided even the 245s are more than they care for. IMHO, in a 19. 5 the 225s are plenty tire enough.

I don't have very many miles on my michelins yet... about 10,000 so far but the wear seems tobe pretty even. I rotate my tires with the spare so it will take some time before I see any changes...



the tires do sing but not more than a MT off road tire I think... If you have the radio on even at a normal volume, I don't hear the tires with the windows up. I rotate like every 5K but seems I get one rotation then I have to mark what I want after winter time for the next rotation.



I picked up maybe 1-2 mpg running these even inhigh heat and mountains... they roll better, last longer and are far more stable with my heavy 5th sitting on them. .
