I've seen several photos recently of member's 4WD trucks with Rickson or other 19. 5" wheels and tires. Curiously, I have not seen any 2WD trucks using them. Does anyone know . . . do 19. 5" wheels and tires fit 2WD trucks also. I may be mistaken but it appears that 2WD trucks have slightly less clearance in the fender wells and 19. 5" tires and wheel seem to fill the fender wells with little reserve clearance.

A set of six 19. 5s is very expensive and I don't really need them for weight capacity but I was tossing around the idea of installing a set if and when I buy a new 3rd Gen later this year or early next year. The taller tires would provide a little taller final drive ratio to compensate for the lower ratios in the G56 six speed.

Klenger: Have you run the numbers for a Gen III G56 3. 73 19. 5" truck in your handy final drive formula?

I can't answer your question about the 2wd with certainty. But I would think a minor lift kit for the front would take care of the clearance - if it was an issue.

I installed 19. 5 Ricksons this past weekend. However, the 255 85 x 16s that came with the 97 truck when I purchased it, and the 235 85 x 17s from my 04 that I swapped for the Ricksons were the same overall height. Moral of the story is there is ways of acheiving the ratios with OEM 16s or 17s.

There are two 2wd duallys running around my area with 19. 5" Brentz wheels. One has 245/70-19. 5 tires on it I know because I looked at it closely in a parking lot. I don't know about the other. 245's will fit, but 225's might be a better choice.

The 225/19. 5's are only an inch or so taller than the stock 265's. Should fit fine. I am debating on whether or not to do it once my mich are gone. Unless we start getting some more e-rated tires for the 17" rims I will.

i will be getting some 19. 5's soon and running a 245-70-19. 5 they come out to ~33 inches tall and just under 10 wide IIRC. i ran 315's on mine at stock height with MINOR rubing. i figure with the more narrow tire, plus a little bit shorter and it will also be about 3/4 of an inch further away it should be just fine... .

ill update in about a month though...

I currently am running 22. 5s on my 4x4 and i am probably going to drop down to 19. 5s due to the gearing loss when towing my 5er.

When towing my 5er with only 3. 73 gears and the 22. 5s that have a tire height of 36" I get slowed down on the hills that I used to do 75-80mph up I now do 45-50 so keep in mind if you tow heavy or not, and 19. 5s with 265s will fit your 2wd no problems at all!

If anone is interested in a set of 6 aluminum Alcoas with tires P. M. me

I just ordered a set of 19. 5's from Brentz today for this same reason. The rear GSA's are practically on the wear bars at 35k, so they aren't going to cut it and I need taller gearing for the highway with the NV5600. If I could have found a 33"+ tire with a Load E rating in the 17" I would have gone that route, but options are slim to none short of running wheels spacers and tires not meant for a 6 x 17" wheel. I think 225/19. 5's should fit fine on a 2wd and 245's easily with a leveling kit.

i want to stay with the 245's because of contact patch. i didnt have any problems with the 4. 10's and 315's with my trailer, but i know i would on the highway and some of the grades i go over. a middle man tire is a toss up between a 246/19. 5 and a 265/19. 5. i think the 265's would look a tiny bit better and if i was buying them i would go with them... i am getting used 19. 5's for free in the 245/70's and they have great tread left to them. i just might have them re-caped before i put them on anyway.
