Does anyone know if the computer on the 05 diesel can be programed to accept the 19. 5 wheels from Rickson so that the speedometer reads correctly? Will the fuel milage computer still operate correctly if the computer accepts the new wheel size? Thanks.

Paul Welsh

For the '05 you just need to know how many revolutions per mile the tire makes and the computer can be set for that number. There is a range it will accept but think it was large enough. I'm not sure on the trip computer but my guess is the correction is made there as well.

the correction is made in the ABS section. it will be used for tripometor, ODO, and overhead readings. i still need to do mine... lol

What they said. Also, if you can't find the Revs per mile then you can chalk the tire and street and drive forward on revolution and measure the distance and do some math to find it -

5280 / distance of revolution =revs per mile

Example

1 rev = 10'

5280 / 10 = 520 revs per mile

There are other ways but this is the most acurate. We did mine this way on my 2003 with 265 70 R19. 5 10 lugs. Got me within 2 mph @75 according to GPS. Good enough for me!

My Rickson 19. 5's are the same diameter of the stock 17" tires that came on the truck; no adjustment needed.

FYI

smarty can make that adjustment for you. it can also give you that lost power back that bigger tires will rob from you!

or the dealer can do it for you, one hour at 95 per hr. = ouch!!

so... you got the 225's then?

in most cases people get the 245's, and some people like myself, get the 265's...

Yes, my 19. 5's are 225's. The thinner the tire, the better it stops in wet weather. My first set of Rickson's were 245's; the 225's work a lot better in the rain. The 4-wheel drive is to get me out of trouble, not go looking for it... .....

i went with the 265's for a couple reasons... i have 4. 10's so this puts me at just like having a 3. 90ish gearset. also, the same width as the factory tires, mean i knew i would have the same amount of tread on the ground widthwise anyway.

i have a2wd and need to get the leveling kit ordered and put in, as they rub a bit. i went with a highway tread as well. nice and deep tread pattern.

Grant

Grant,

What are you doing for leveling?? not much out there for us 2wheelers

I sent you a P. M. on another note.

Don

Daystar sells a 1 inch and a 1. 5 inch leveling spacer. it replaced the rubber coil spacer the factory uses.

the one inch retails around 90 dollars and the 1. 5 inch is around 110. i plan on purchasing the 1. 5 inch in case over time it settles.

i know i never made it out to your pace to check yours out, but i though you had lifted the front up a bit one way or another?
