@Nyoest - you will LIKE those Vision 81 wheels, I have the 181's on my dually, they are nice wheels, and you will also like having the 19. 5 tires, they take the worry out of running E rated tires with heavy loads.

Well get em on already and give us a report, Do these wheels have the right offset? Hows the ride, Whats the website you used?

I would love to. I just need tires that won't be here until next Friday.

Did the rear drum brake upgrade in prep for the 19. 5s today. Best $14 I ever spent!!

Visions are close to the correct offset but will stick out just a little. Adding a set of fender flares solves that immediately. I am not sure that my Bridgestones would be good at all in snow. They have no siping to them but they are good 3 season traction. The only downside is that they are very noisy on pavement. Now that my heavy towing is done for the year, I just put my stock rims and am trying Kelly TSR's. The chrome Ricksons have never seen winter and I don't want them to. The TSR's look like a mud terrain tire but have lots of siping for snow. I only have 30 miles on them so far so nothing to report on them except that they look so small in my wheel wells compared to the 19. 5's.

Well got two tires mounted today. The other two SHOULD be here Friday but more than likely wont since I have a trip planned.

Drum roll, please... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

There must be a reason folks live up north in the winter... ..... but God has never revealed to me why... ... ... ... ...

Michelin 19. 5s on Vision 81s... ... ..... love 'em!

Well I had to make a run to Indiana over the weekend. One of my old tires I'm currently running developed a separation and out came the spare to get me home.

My other two tires were supposed to be here today but won't be here until Friday, again. ARRGH!

Sooo with no spare and a few days to go I put the two 19. 5s on the rear. Not by choice but neccessity to get to work. I think I'm really going to enjoy these when I get the full set on.

Odd thing is the speedo. It is spot on with GPS until 60 mph. Then after that there is a pretty big difference. The new tires cut my cruise rpms by about 400. Very happy about that. Now at 2,500 rpm I'm doing 75.

I experienced the same thing on my '06 and my '09. When I installed the 225/70/19. 5s the speedo went spot on. Now the speedo, the GPS and the roadside radar in work zones are all in agreement.

If you are just going to the grocery store, OEMs are fine. But if you run high miles and tow/haul big loads, for me, 19. 5s are the only way to go.

mi dos centavos... ... .....

Well I FINALLY got my other two tires. Got them road force balanced and put on tonight. YAY!!!

They have a little whine but I'm going in for alingment tommorow and it may help.

I don't notice much different ride with them. Once I get my new speedo gear I should be done with this for a while.

Here's a blurry pic at the fuel island, only place with enough light after work to get a pic.

Any further reports on this setup after a couple months? I'm looking at the same thing... . What tire did you end up with and how have they performed so far? I was looking at the Hankook DH01's in 265, but worry they will be too loud. I have to have something that can do decent in mud and northern IN winters.

Is a speedo gear or leveling kit required to run 19. 5's?

First, I love my 19. 5s! Unless I am just going to use my truck to go to Wal-Mart, I hope I never have to use OEM tires again.

My experience with the speedo thing is once I installed the 225/70/19. 5s my speedo went dead on with my GPS and the roadside radar in the construction zones. Before with OEM tires, my speedo was 3mph fast.

Rickson's website has a neat little calculator for speeds and ratios. Well worth a visit... ... ... ... ... .

I went with cooper rm190 245/7019. 5. I have about 10k on them about 1/3 loaded and so far I am pleased. Next oil change will be the first rotation and I'll measure the tread then and log it. New was 19/32.

My tires sing a bit at 60-70 mph. Nothing like a wild country'as howl or similar tire but it is there. I usually have the radio on just low enough to talk over and it's non issue. You are either going to have quiet tires or good tires in mud and snow. Not both.

The one snow we have had they did better than my old cooper atr's. They surprised me in the mud I pulled a 25' dual tandem across a fresh graded site after a good bit of rain (no choice) and it did fine. Those boys will be busy fixing ruts when dries up!

It is nice not having to worry about tires for a while.

Oh and the speedo, if you go 225 no change is needed. I was off about 5mph at sixty with the 245. I ordered a 1 tooth different speedo gear for $35 and it was spot on.

I'm fine with some singing, just don't want them to be so loud I can't have a conversation on the phone without yelling.

Do you like the way the 245's fit the truck? I was leaning more toward 265's, but if it's gonna throw the speedo off 10 mph and/or rub anything, I'll stay away.

Thanks.

There's no way 265's would clear. My 245's will slightly rub in a turn and bounce situation.

Also the tires ended up being a bit skinny. It's fine for my taste but for some maybe not.

I am running 225s Michelins and they just barely clear in a turn... ... ... ..... you might get by with 245s but it will be tight.

What is the actual tread width on your 245s? I ask, because I have 225/70/19. 5s on some work trucks, and depending on manufacturer, the tread width is very different. Michelin is 8" wide, Geostars are 7" wide. Section width is 225 on both. (BTW, section width is the max width of the tire, not the width of the tread. )
