I have an 07 Mega cab dually 4x4, G56, that needs tires and taller ones to lower the cruising rpm's. The choices I have found are the KM2's in 255-80-17 on the stock rims, unless that is a problem, or the American Force 19. 5's with 245-70-19. 5 tires. Both tires are about 33" tall or I can go to 265-70-19. 5 which is 34" tall. I will be installing a 2" level kit on the front soon. Any stories about either of these combination will be helpfull.

I have 19. 5's on my rigs for one reason... . WE had an F550 with them and got close to 100K per set... . we run recaps on the rear and good steer tires on the front... we think that dollar for dollar they are the most cost effect tire you can run... we get the bandag all season tire from the same re-caper that does the UPS trucks here in town... . and usually purchase new Bridgestone or Michelin's for the front... 225/70/19. 5. . these are the same tires as are on our new 08 5500... rears are around $100 now and the new fronts are something like $225 now...

We've never had a blow out... and usually keep our trucks for 500K miles... we also like the extra capacity when we haul some of our trailers... .

Just my thoughts... .

The 19. 5" tires will be the same size but skinnier. I have that (245/70-19. 5) tire for towing my 36' 5th wheel and it does great. If wide and bigger is your choice, then go with like 285/75-17 or even 18".

Are you going to tow heavy or just need bigger tires?. . If the former, the 19. 5". . If the latter, a bigger 17 or 18". . the 19. 5" you can get if you want just for looks but will be a stiffer ride.
