19. 5 is pretty good. I get about 20 and a little more in town. It works out to be about 160 to 175 miles per quarter tank during the summer with #2 diesel. During the winter I go down to around 17 to 19 on #1 diesel and depending how cold it gets.

19. 5 sounds pretty good. What's the milage on your truck? When new, my '02 H. O. 6 speed with 3. 55 gears and a weight of 7400 pounds was getting in the mid 16s mpg(calculated by hand). Now, at 9000 miles I'm up to mid 19s. About 75% of my driving is at highway speeds, the rest is around town. I have a cab high cap on the back. Tires are 265/75R16. As far as driving habits go, this truck is VERY fun to drive if you catch my drift. Just switched to synthetic rear axle lube, so according to some I may see an increase. No other mods except M. E. kit from Geno's. By the way, with a build date of 11/12/01, my truck came equiped with a front axle disconnect.

Milage with/without cap cover

I drive 99. 9% of the time with an aluminum windowed cover on the bed. Once in a while I'll take it off to carry something tall. It doesn't make any difference in my milage. In 50/50 city/hiway driving my truck will consistantly get 20. 5 mpg (+ or - 1 mpg). Last tankful was more like 75% hiway and the milage went up to 22. 9 mpg. I'm not complaining:D

Oh, forgot to tell members in my prior post that I had a gasser,360 that was getting the poor mileage. I'm looking for a 2002 6 speed at this time.

i get 15 mpg in the city. and i get 18. 6 on the high way . truck has 11000 miles on it. and weights in every day at 9000 lbs. the 18. 6 was my trip to muncie. i think im doing good. im happy.

my 2000 4x4 1500 dodge was getting 15. My friends 1996 ford f250 4x4 was getting 10. Now he has a diesel and he gets 18. Boy, is he happy. I would never have bought a diesel if I didn't think I could get 18+. If my truck was only getting 10-12 I would have put a bomb in it, or ask for my money back.
