Smoke, heat, and power? (or something like that)

I don't have them, but it sounds like along with more smoke, EGTs rise up faster, and low end power improves. I think the fuel economy takes a little hit too.

Just a slight hit, once you learn to drive it again it will be fine..... remember that's all that is in my racepump!

Your gonna like like them!

Jim

On the 215 hp pump, smoke even on easy starts from a stop. 0. 0 horsepower difference on the Dynojet. I tried them two different years, new 191s each time. I'm still running unmodified 181s.

After running cut Dvalves for two years, I put in my 191s for the winter.

Talk about neutered.

No idea what the hp difference is, don't care. I can tell how it drives.

It runs better with big delivery valves.

delivery valves

I thought that I read where the reason the 191 VALVES dribble fuel, late in injection, which only make heat , but that can help spool the turbo charger. That might be good on an automatic. This may not be right but I thought so. There seems to be different ideas here. I also have read some where the bigger delivery valves increase pressure to the injector on some applications which help atomize the fuel, better burn, ect. This may also be wrong but to be sure there are those who know for sure. Jimk

I once made a change from a #8 TST plate and stock 181 DV's to a #4 and 191 DV's and made an 86 Hp gain. Keep this in mind, you can add fuel at any stage and if you don't add air and timing your not going to add much, 191's work but you have to add timing! An aggressive plate, 191's and stock timing is not ideal, but then again I'm just a little ole' 700 hp guy that feeds info for free!

Jim

Thats true Jim, I have ridden in more than one"Fire Breathin Dragon" with 370s, and stock timing. They actually would fall on their face, stumble.

I have often thought a slide of the stock plate with some creative wastegate alteration, and a timing bump from stock to 16, may be the ideal set up for a lot of guys, with almost no money spent. :)

I couldn't agree more. I ran that 'setup' (minus the plate... . and adding the usual airflow BOMBs) for quite a while... . I was @ 16. 5°, though. :) It didn't cost me a dime... . and made 271/671 at the wheels.

16. 5° seems to be enough timing for 370's and all types of different DV's (from 161's to experimentals to insane cut DV's... )on my pump as well... .

I did all of these things along with a lot of timing, back to 17. 5 now. I made a few mods to the afc housing that helped. These mod were pm to me by a very sharp guy who likes free as much as I. A click to two on the governor and all I could say is I wont more, that was great. I am going to install the dilivery valves that a guy loaned me to help the 95 along. Sure is nice to have friends. jimk

I was just reading some of the posts here and I have a question.

I just installed 370's and a Dodgezilla turbo on my 12v and have not touched my timing. Would it help to set up the timing? My truck does not smoke much and I wonder if that is the case. Thanks for any input. Dallas

Answer is yes on timing, it will always help a 12V truck. I don't know what plate you have with that kit but a #11 TST and 370's will smoke the stock clutch!

Jim

I have already found out the clutch will have to be changed. It slips in 5th when I push the pedal down about half way down.

What is the timing set at the factory and how much do I need to set it. Any recomendations on a clutch and do I need to change the input shaft on the 5 speed?

Dallas...

Look at the placard on the drivers side of the engine assy section forward of the pump, it will tell you what it's suppose to be at, on yours it should like 13. 5, recommend going to 15-16 in your case, on the clutch I would recommend a Southbend Con O and the input shaft should be fine!

Jim

I have the 022's in my truck right now... . and you're right... . they're a good compromise between the usual big jump from 191's to cut DV's.

Matt

CC's of Fuel

After i get my 191 dv's installed, can someone roughly tell me how many cc's of fuel i am flowing. I have a #10 plate 3/4 forward,191 dv's and 370 diamond b's.
