4-pin wiring problem

Using TV antenna for Radio?

With Selecta speed!!

It was one of the red ones, that Ford recalled, and painted blue, to fool the public into thinking it was different tractor.

As near as we can tell, this one was painted but the recall stuff was not done. Hhhmmm... . shady dealer, perhaps?

Any Ford tractor fans out there?

I had a 5000 that I think was labeled Selectomatic for about a year. The transmission was kinda quirky and I had knowledgable people tell me I would be better off to sell it than work on it. So, I did. Paid 3k, sold it for 3k.

Used to run a Ford 901 w/ the Select-o-speed. It was the first powershift transmission in a tractor.

VERY jumpy. 4-8 were the worst on that one. Other than that, and poor powersteering, it was nice little tractor. I've done A LOT of mowing with it. The engines themselves are pretty easy to work on, as long as the the front crank gear doesn't need to come off. Have to pull the whole front end off to get a puller on it.

Ahhh... the old Jerk-A-Matic!! I got to know one of them rather well back in the 70's. Got to know the service department well too. :)

Only real problem we had with transmission, was you couldn't mow very steep ditches with it. It would somehow run out of oil, or just stop pumping oil and stop all movement. Would shut off the PTO at the same time. Can't roll them either. Have to drag it to the flat with another tractor. One rear wheel would go forward and the other whould turn backwards.

Dad had a new 1968 5000 with that transmission and was impressed with it, worked great.

This one seems slightly out of adjustment, but otherwise, decent shape.

If you want to be smooth, you have to throttle it like a truck to shift properly, otherwise, its the same as slamming a gear in a standard trans without using the clutch.

No foot throttle on this one so you have to take your hand of the wheel, could be fun.

Its a 43 year old tractor, that was recalled and still running.

maybe that transmission wasn't so crappy after all? LOL;)

There is a lever on the side of the transmission that kicks it into tow range.

They sold the tractor a couple of years ago, and bought a Deere 970. So I can't look at it, even if I was there. Don't recall ever seeing one for that.
