I just purchased on e-bay a 1969 dodge power wagon that has no rust since it was a california, nevada truck. My question is this do you think a diesel will fit and which year? :)

I think that four wheeler had an article a year or two ago about putting a 24valve cummins in a power wagon. Unfortunately, I can't remember the specifics and I don't have the magazine here at school. You might find something if you search their website.

That year model has more room in the engine compartment than my 1st gen does. It should fit with little problems on that note.

Now the bad news. That year uses a straight axle. This makes it easyer to install a Cummins. But the front axle and springs are way to light for the engine weight. The brakes were drums. So you would need a full update on the brakes also.

The rear axle is to light also. The biggest they installed was a Dana 60. If you run a auto it would hold for a while. If you run a stick and think of playing, carry a spare axle to get home on.

As far as year of engine. Any would fit. You will need to make mounts anyway. They narrowed the frames on Dodges in 72 model year change.

That front axle could be a Dana 70. It will utilize tracta joints, but it would easily carry the weight. The rear will most likely be a D60 or D60HD... but it will only have 1. 33 axles (and they might be 16 spline).

I think it would be best to upgrade the ENTIRE drivetrain to something modern (like use a 1st gen donor) and put it under that body.
