Looks really nice!!!! great work. . good catch on the valve guide seals. The oil feed for th eturbos . . are you going to t it ?. . I had thought of doing that on another engine and every body and their brother told me not to do it. . but to make two ports. . any thoughts on that?. . I am probably going to go with the same remote filter setup on your truck my self. . so I'm really curious on that. . thanks

I would agree that to "T" off the stock turbo oil feed is not the best practice. This is why I have increased this port size to supply both turbos. Probably goint to use -8AN w/a "Y" to two -4AN's to the turbos.

;)

Well after much thought... . I decided to ditch the NP205 transfercase and go with a NV271.

I will be boxing up the frame in the near future (already started cutting and fabing) and will just use a half round to close up this cut out...

I had to take a break from frame and suspension work... so I worked on the timing gear cover and the clutch master cylinder actuating rod... .

Picked this NP273F up for $100... . I'm going to take the output shaft, tailhousing and fixed yoke and see if it all fits in my NP271D for a slip yoke eliminator upgrade?

I think this is going to be about my last post here as my subscription is coming up for renewal... . I had been a member (there was a lapse a couple of times) of TDR since my first diesel in 2001 and back then the TDR was the real deal. I've noticed that the conversion threads was really popular a few years back. Now it seems really dead around here. I think that the TDR needs to seriously consider separating the forum from the magazine!

Good luck with all your conversion projects and hope to see you all and exchange ideas elsewhere!

Sorry to see you go Mark :{

I've enjoyed watching your rig transform and have been impressed with all your work. I did a conversion to a 73 F-250 but sure didn't go into detail like you've done so far. I think you are doing a fine job!

I have to agree that not many people paruse the conversion section much but have to admit that when I do, I just don't reply often. Guess it's laziness.

Didn't know you had to be a member of the magazine to post though.

Cheers!

yeah you have to be a member to post . . argh. . oh well i think i have to renew mine too... as for the 273 and 271 . . i didn't realize the 271 had a slip yoke?. . do all of the 271's have aslip yoke?... reason i'm asking is i have a273 in the excursion but i beleive all 273 are electric shift. I'd liek a manual shift transfercase and i think all 271s are manual so i was looking at swapping in a271 or making a 273 have aamnual lever if possible.

Thanks,

Deo

Your on the right track... . with a NP271F manual shift and fixed yoke. All Dodge NP271D & NP273D have slip yokes. All Fords are fixed yokes.

I have also enjoyed following your project and am amazed by your professionalism. Sorry to see you go. I lurked on TDR for a year before I joined. I think a lot of people as AlaskaCummins said, read and do not post. I dream of doing what you have done, but have a job that takes me away from home. When I am here I have other things to concentrate on. I have enjoyed following this post and had hoped to see it come together. Maybe we still will.

Dave

That is a really cool idea. I didn't know the Ford versions had a fixed yoke. Let us know if it works. Hopefully you'll stick around and continue this thread. Very cool truck.

Maybe the TDR Staff could consider granting HDROKEN continued web access without the mag as his project is part of the essence of this website and the reason I have been a subscriber since 2000.

It is a reality that other websites devoted to the mighty Cummins engine do not require fees of any sort.

Now, I understand the difference between posters that "have skin in the game" and those that do not.

But, in HDROKEN's case, it is clear that he is providing us all with an education and entertainment with his documentation and commentary of this project. 18,000 Views!

Regards,

Bill Benson

I've been following this for a while now. Maybe we can work out a deal. I will pay your membership you keep the online access and we get the address of a Marine unit in Afghanistan and send them the magazine. Robin? Steve, Moderator,HRDROKN?
