Hey guys and gals... First off, this is a spin off from a recent thread involving this very same project. If I need to delete it, I will, but I decided that this would be a better thread for this particular build. Thanks!
Well here we go... Some time ago(actually about ten minutes into the drive home from picking up my 1993 1-ton) I decided that a Ramcharger would be a VERY good candidate for a Cummins Turbo Diesel. So have few others. Don't know why... I found a 1978 RC SE model in fair condition this spring and brought it home. Well... "Special Edition" it was. It is FAR worse than I thought(Isn't that always the way... )
Now. . A buddy of mine (SamsRams. . ) is restoring/renewing a 1978 "Macho" RC... Undoubtedly<sp> on of the coolest documented builds that I have seen. If you haven't seen it, it is worth a look. Sam would probably tell you the same. He is building what HE wants to build. I've had the pleasure of "hangin' out" with SAM and he know what he is doing as well as where his build is going. I took some inspiration from him and decided to go for it. Oo.
I think Sam would agree when I say this... Money and Time are the 2 things to keep in mind(in my opinion) when doing one of these. Having fun and and staying safe are also at the top. Take a chance. Do it right. If you can't do it for some reason, find someone that can(There is more help on this board than you will ever know!) and is willing or wants to help.
Remember... This will only become what you want it to be. Look at Timo's Suburban, Bgilbert's Crew, EarlKann's Crew (I can't believe your selling it), Driverswanted's 4BT Short bed, WM-300's M-37(What a journey this one went on)... and many others. All of them have had a reason/vision/desire/ or need to do a conversion of this sort. I hope/assume that they are proud of these accomplishments. I know I will be.
Well. . here we go...
This is what I started with. 1978 RC SE...

$400 bucks... ok... I'm up for some punishment...
A few months ago I happened upon this... A hassle to get, but couldn't pass on it. 1991 Non-IC 4x4 reg cab CTD, 3. 07 rear, auto, cruise, AC, etc... Perfect donor rig... If I didn't someone else would have, I'm sure...

Turns out, the '78 RC frame is BAD. Bad enough, that I decided that I would remove 25" from the 1991 and get back to it...
