1984 1 Ton 4x4 Crew Cab

A friend of mine wants to install a 1992 cummins with auto trans in his 1984 crew cab short bed. His concern is transfer case and differential matching up. He wants to purchase an auto trans w/overdrive and transfer case compatible to his 1992 engine and would fit into his 1984 crew cab. The Cummins uses much bigger universal joints and driveshaft. The engine crossmember is different from 1989-up because the Cummins engine mount ends up lower in the frame. There is more, but those are initial headaches.
