Conversion Question

How many CTD's?

Steve. . I have an '84 300SD that has 250K on the clock... It has been a great car for commuting for my wife while she worked... been a homemaker for 5 yrs. now. . and the car has been a long distance Mother In-Law driver [3 hrs away] since then. I HAVE NO FEAR if she drives this car . . it has been a great car and relatively trouble free. . yes air conditioner problems but fix them and do the required maintenance and you'll love the rig. don't think you could be in a safer car given it's age.

It doesn't burn oil .

I was going to use this car to drive my 45k [work only] a year drive and park the truck and give it some time/rest as I bought my wife a ML3230 ... but I retired instead :D . .

Have no fear . . if it in good shape . . BUY IT

SUSV engine

LSMITH,

The engine is one used in the SUSV's that the military use, not sure if it is compatible with the cars or not. It looks the same as the ones in the cars but maybe it is de-rated for longevity in the SUSV, but the boost number seems a little high.

As to selling it, I'd be happy with $3000, but up here in Alaska there isn't much of a demand for them. I thought about putting it on ebay and see what would happen, maybe latter if I don't do the Toyota install.

As to the numbers, using the HP=(TQ * RPM)/5252 formula the numbers on the dyno chart are very close. Are you sure about the factory car numbers being 210lbs. ft. , that makes the HP about 160 @ 4000 RPM. Can you check and see what the factory rating is for me?

Thanks

I haven't bought it yet but if it's still around when we get Wendy's Jeep sold I'm 99% sure we'll buy it. I've gotten back lots of good feedback on them. Will let you know when/if it happens.
