1985 BMW 524td Turbo Diesel

Anyone know anything about these? Never realized BMW had a TD. Supposedly 115hp inline 6. Saw one for sale for $3500, seemed a bit high for what it was. I am considering a commuter/2nd vehicle.

Forrest is right, a mechanic friend of mine had a customer with one of those (not the car) engines. It was in a Ford product either a Lincoln or Mercury I can't remember which, but lets just say it was always making visits to his shop... ... .

they put them in the Lincoln Mark VII's in 83-84.



there's a reason BMW diesels aren't popular and Mercedes are.

My father have a BMW 525 td -95 with 350 000 kms on the odo and it has not been any trouble with the engine. Its time for a new transmission thoug. Guess its the lifetime for an auto. Great 150 hp engine! Probably not the same as in the -85 turbodiesel.

just not that great of an engine (the older ones in question) parts are basicly impossible to find, etc.



you'd be better off w/ a Mercedes diesel from the same era.
